PowerPoint Presentations - Recording Sounds And Narrations

Every time you want to record your narration in PowerPoint presentation, you will have to make sure that your computer has a proper sound card as well as a microphone. In case, your microphone is not the part of your personal computer, you will need a special connector for your microphone.

In order to record your narration you will have to do the following:
  • Go to the tab “Slide Show” which you will find in the group “Set Up”.

  • Press the button “Record Slide Show”.

  • Now, you can choose the option here: “Start Recording from Current Slide” or “Start Recording from Beginning”.

  • Refer to the dialog box “Record Slide Show” and choose the check box “Narrations and laser pointer”. In case, you find it appropriate, you can select/deselect the check box “Slide and animation timings”.

  • You will need to press “Start Recording”.

  • In order to pause your narration recording, you will need to go to the shortcut menu “Recording” in the view “Slide Show” and press “Pause”. In order to resume your narration recording, press “Resume Recording”.

  • In order to finish the recording of your slide show, you have to right click your PowerPoint slide and press “End Show”.

It is important to mention that the timing of your recorded slide show are saved automatically. Your slide show will appear in the view “Slide Sorter” and the timing you will find beneath every PowerPoint slide. Your narration can be recorded before you start delivering your PowerPoint presentation, as well as it can be recorded during your performance. If you choose the second way, you can also include all the comments your viewers do. Some presenters do not want to record the narration throughout the entire PowerPoint presentation, in such a case, it is recommended to record only comments and sounds on certain objects or PowerPoint slides.
